Photographer Osborne Macharia is a self-taught, international award winner Commercial, Advertising and Digital artist based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Macharia’s work is basically ruled by two main key elements: cultural identity and fiction. He flows through storytelling and creates a stable platform to address vital messages on social and cultural topics.
Themes such as equality, representation, albinism, and care for the elderly are crucial on Macharia’s work; it shows throughout his whole work, the wish of social inclusion and justice for the people.
However, Macharia’s style falls strongly within the genre of Afrofuturism; the artist approaches the post-colonial African narrative by integrating historical elements, present culture, and future desire of black people. Macharia handles it all by using tale, fantasy, and fiction to draw attention to the African identity.
Macharia’s work is all around the world to be seen: Marvel 10 Years of Heroes in Artscience museum in Singapore, IAF Basel in Switzerland, and BREDAPHOTO in the Netherlands, just to name a few.
The award-winning photographer also worked with prestigious and very known brands and agencies such as Disney, Marvel, Campari, Coca-Cola and many more.
