Photographer Barbara Minishi is an art director from Nairobi and her passion for visual arts is inspiring the art scene in Kenya.
With an outstanding style, Minishi aims to represent the African way of life with a spice of extravaganza. Her unique combination between everyday scenario and surrealism is delightful and yet bold.
She got inspired by reading old LIFE magazines, and later she realizes that she was highly attracted by the creative visual storytelling.
Barbara Minishi followed the campaign of presidential candidate Martha Karua for her own project on women from Kenya. As a symbol of national identity and unity, the photographed different women wearing a red dress.
As a woman herself, Minishi admires the strength and courage of all women, and continuously include them in her work.
Minishi experiences with new environments and takes the opportunity to be flexible with her art. Mostly she improvises, while she travels all around the world.
