Queen Sono a Kaleidoscope expressing African Artistry

Netflix’s first original African Series is a 6 episode pan African thriller. That was filmed over 8 weeks in 37 different locations across Africa, including Johannesburg, Lagos, Kenya and Zanzibar. Queen Sono was produced and shot by an all African crew and features an all African cast.

During an interview with CNN  Dorothy Ghettuba, Netflix’s Head of International Original for Africa, said “Queen Sono” is “a kaleidoscope of expression of African artistry” which “showcases an African aesthetic onscreen that the rest of the world has never had a chance to see … exploring the origins of contemporary trends through African eyes and the breadth of ideas that this vast continent has to offer.”

Synopsis: “A highly trained South African spy (Pearl Thusi) must face changing relationships in her personal life while taking on her most dangerous mission yet.”

The crime drama series is directed by Tebogo Malope and  Kagiso Lediga is set to premier on the 28th of February on Netflix. 

Cast Members include: Vuyo Dabula, Sechaba Morojele, Chi Mhende, Loyiso Madinga, Rob Van Vuuren, Kate Liquorish, Khathu Ramabulana, Enhle Maphumulo, Abigail Kubeka, Connie Chiume, Otto Nobela und James Ngcobo.
