The eight-episode series created by Hugo Blick happens in the U.S., Africa, and Europe. It tells the story of Kate Ashby, played by Michaela Coel, a Rwandan orphaned by genocide, who was raised in London by an adoptive mother.
Due to her past, that is still unknown to her, Kate is trying to unravel the truth about her ancestry and life. Lawyer Michael Ennis, played by John Goodman, helps her in her journey.
The story shows the different relationship between the Western World and Africa and is set in a world of prosecution of war crimes.
The series premieres on Netflix on January 25.
